Meet the Artisans: Stories from Bagru Village
Nestled on the outskirts of Jaipur, Bagru village has been the heart of Rajasthani block printing for generations. Here, printing is not just a livelihood — it is identity, community, and pride.
A Village Built on Craft
Walk through Bagru and you will hear the rhythmic tap of blocks on fabric from nearly every home. Families work together — elders carving blocks, younger members printing, women finishing and folding the dried fabric.
Preserving Knowledge
SWAROOP partners with artisan families who have maintained these techniques for over four generations. Their expertise in natural dyes, repeat patterns, and fabric preparation is what gives our prints their distinctive character.
